A pipeline has a tubular link (19) attached to a cylinder operated cross slide (28). In its normal operating position, the link tube (19) connects the pipeline tubes such that a straight material flow through the coupling section is possible. When the cross slide is operated, the link tube (19) moves side ways to allow an open ended inclined funnel (20, 21) to take its place. This is achieved by attaching the funnel to the same cross slide as the link tube. Flanges (22) on the link tube and the funnel locate axially and radially inside retracting sealing sleeves (33). A cylinder assembly inside each sleeve (33) allows their retraction when changing over from link tube to funnel section.
