Ribbed edges on pieces of knitting are usually produced on a special machine, involving transfer of the work from the knitting machine to the ribbing machine or vice versa. The machine described allows transfer onto a holding comb without damaging the stitches or adversely affecting tension, thus enabling ready pick up on the other machine.
