Linear poly alkyl aluminoxanes, and a process for their production

Linear polyalkylalumoxanes of formula R2Al(OAlR)mOAlR2 (where R is 2-4C alkyl and n=8-26) are prepd by hydrolysis of trialkylaluminium with water in a medium comprising alkylamines in molar ratio trialkyl-Al:water of 2:1-1:1, at 60-90 degrees C under atmos press. Prods are used as inters in mfr of coatings which are resistant to changes in temp, water-repellant textile dressings, rapidly-drying lacquers, additives for alkyd and epoxy resins.
