A sliding- or plain-bearing consists of flat, concave or cup bearing element(s) (I) and a second bearing element (II) which undergoes relative movement w.r.t. (I), either the rotating or the stationary element being provided with grooves which extend from the outside to the inside in the direction of rotation for the creation of a hydrodynamic pressure. The improvement comprises that the wall of =1 bearing element adjacent to the bearing gap is so thin that it undergoes elastic deformation in use due to the influence of the other element, the elastic deformation exceeding the deviations due to mfg. tolerances and/or the variations attributable to differences in thermal expansion. This is a division of 2155705 (304 3U).
