The guide tongues on the chain links engage is a recess in the centre of each tread roller and each tongue has only one inclined guide wall bearing against the conical walls of the recess in the rollers. Recesses are located in the side walls of the guide tongues to reduce weight. The chain bodies are joined together by connectors fixed on bolts of the chain bodies. The recess in the tread roller centres the guide tongues or the twin guide chain with respect to its internal guide surfaces so that the chain cannot possibly come off.
