The frictional grip increasing tapes are used especially for sporting purposes. The grip is increased by winding a thin flexible strip which is coated on one side with an adhesive around the palm and fingers of the hand. The top face of the tape has a rough surface structure which prevents slipping of a smooth component held by hand, e.g. a tennis racket. The grip is confined to required areas of the hand and the rest of the hand remains free. The gripping surface can have different degrees of roughness which can be produced by using quartz, plastics or rubber. rubber surface can have a large number of small projections with smooth or suction cupped shaped surfaces. These friction elements can be attached as continuous strips or as local pads on the tape. A variety of patterns can be used for the friction elements. Breathing holes are provided in the tape.
