Slide clasp fastener has each of the slide clasp coupling element rows formed from a meandering plastics filament defining alternately disposed T-shaped or thickened coupling heads and correspondingly shaped recesses for accommodation of associated heads and each of the coupling member rows is supported by a carrier tape and covered by a strip, whereby in the interlocked state of the coupling element rows following displacement of the slide the tapes are abutting one another along the inner longitudinal edges. Coupling elements are attached to the tapese and strips by yarns or threads passed over the shanks of the heads. Provision of tapes and strips which abut one another in the locked state of the fastener makes the fastener resistant to orthogonal displacement.
