Entry step for bus - with step lowered by door opening mechanism to maintain running clearance

The bus is fitted with automatic levelling suspension to ensure a constant ground clearance, so that the bus can negotiate ramps etc. The doorways are fitted with steps, with the lowest step (5) mounted on rollers (6) in vertical guides. The step is linked to the servo mechanism for opening and closing the doors. When the doors are opened the servo mechanism lowers the step, and raises it when the doors are closed. The operating mechanism is simple, and can be fitted to existing buses. The low setting of the step enables the passengers to transfer faster and with less effort.
