The entrance steps for the service bus are set between the front axle and the front of the bus. The steps are divided into front and rear sections, with the rear section nearest the axle, having a lower ground clearance to assist elderly and infirm. The lower ground clearance enables an extra step to be included in this section. The steps do not encroach on the floor space inside the vehicle, with the bottom step (1) below the level of the rest of the steps, and with the second step between the rest of the step and the floor level. The reduced ground clearance does not affect the use the vehicle, as the area concerned is near the axle.
