Hot-rolling mill train for the high speed mfr. - of either wire, or ribbed steel for reinforcing concrete

Rolling mill for mfg. wire and ribbed steel for concrete, consisting of (a) a multistand roughing section; (b) multistand intermediate section; (c) a finishing section; (d) a mill for rolling the ribs when ribbed steel is being made; (e) a section for the controlled cooling of wire. The novelty is that section (c) ends with a round roll-groove, and, for mfg. ribbed steel, section (c) is followed by a double stand with two sets of rolls at 90 degrees w.r.t. each other, the first set of rolls converting the round rod into an oval and the second set of rolls converts the oval into a ribbed round pod. The double stand(d) is pref. located in section (e) so rib-rolling occurs at max. 880 degrees C. Very high output of either wire-rod or ribbed steel for reinforcing concrete is achieved.
