Press tool for extrusion of profiles - has die with interchangeable inserts for profile range

The press tool for extrusion of profiles of forgeable materials is especially for the extrusion of sections in light metals. The lower die consists of a primary tool (4) with a cut-out for forming the profile (6) and at least one replaceable insert which is clamped within the cross section of the cut-out in the primary tool. The division of the profile is so arranged that the shape, which forms the profile series, is unchanged in the cut-out of the primary tool, while the inserts have cut-outs to achieve a profile range. Cut profiles are in a plane normal to that of the extrusion direction.
