A built in unit for a film or television studio light having a halogen-metal vapour bulb and consisting of a reflector with a lamp, attached at right angles to and horizontally within the reflector axis, socketed at both ends having a lamp fitting attached to a starter device with an electrically and thermally insulating plate at a small distance from the reflector back, has the electrical input between the insulating plate and the sockets made from heat conductive material to control the amount of heat developed at the sockets and conducts that heat into the intermediate space where it can be dissipated. The lamp is surrounded by a heat absorbing light transmitting insulating sheath.
