Drill rod hoist comprises a base frame mounted on the chassis of a dredger and consisting of two parts which may be fixed in any angular position adjustable as desired about a horizontal axis. The front frame part bears a drill rod guide/drive means mounted laterally outside of the path of trave, and the two parts are jointed together out of phase with each other. The front part is pref. jointed to the rear part perpendicularly to the longitudinaly axis of the chassis and either in front of or behind the chassis as seen in the direction of travel.
