1506042 Electric couplings ARTECHE INSTRUMENTACION Y SISTEMAS ELECTRONICOS SA 2 May 1975 [21 June 1974 12 Feb 1975 (2)] 18483/75 Heading H2E A panel assembly comprises a frame defining a plurality of housings each with a pair of contacts 19, a plurality of modular units each insertable into a said housing and each comprising a pair of complementary contacts 15, means 21 for short-circuiting the housing contacts 19 and means 18 on the units for breaking the shortcircuit when the unit is inserted into its housing and for restoring the short-circuit as the unit is withdrawn but before the mating contacts 15, 19 disengage. The means 18 comprises a projecting lug which separates spring-loaded arms 21 to break the short-circuiting as the unit is inserted; the lug is sufficiently short to be removed from between the arms 21 before contacts 15, 19 disengage when the unit is withdrawn. Co-operating hexagonal pegs 23, 24 ensure correct coupling. Captive screws (8) in the units are used to effect initial withdrawal or final insertion of the units. A unit includes a plurality of threaded sleeve contacts (32, Figs. 20, 21, 9, not shown) which receive a plug 30 or 31, for example to vary a transformer tapping. The unit also comprises groups of three sockets 36 in the form of blades 37 adapted to receive a checking plug 39 comprising contacts 40, 42 and insulating lugs 43 which respectively connect with and separate selected blades 37. The lugs 43 and contacts 40, 42 are in four groups of three (Fig. 15, not shown) with the contacts 42 of each group comprising a linked pair.
