1520754 Oil-in-water emulsion PHARMACIA AB 30 July 1975 [19 Aug 1974] 31950/75 Heading C5C An oil-in-water emulsion suitable for parenteral administration is prepared by a method which comprises mixing a nutritive glyceride oil (e.g. soybean or sunflower oil) with a solvent therefor in the weight ratio of up to 20 parts of solvent to 1 part of oil, agitating the mixture at a temperature not exceeding 0‹ C., the ratio and temperature being such that a precipitate of crystals of the more saturated glyceride fractions forms, separating the crystals and mixing the remaining oil containing the less saturated glyceride fractions with water to form an oil-in-water emulsion. The solvent is acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, diethyl ketone, benzene, toluene or hexane.
