A bark removal machine for tree trunks with a trunk rotating device and peeler device with circulating blades has a transport sledge (14) vertically adjustably mounted on the car (4) which can traverse the whole length of the machine action region (1). A framework (21) is mounted on the sledge (14) in a pivoting manner on an axis (20) parallel to the machine long axis. The bark removing cutter (22) is mounted on this framework (21) and consists of a drive shaft (25) parallel to axis (20) and drum (41) with cutting blades (42) attached, mounted to the pivoting frame (21). A device (35) for automatic return of the assembly in the horizontal plane is provided and a further device (45, 53) to produce de-barking pressure attaches to the framework (21).
