The posts are embedded at intervals in the ground and are formed from three vertical bars joined in a triangular form by horizontal bars. The posts are surrounded by used tyres (15), with loops attached to pair of the vertical bars and extending outwardly between adjacent tyres. The loops are attached to sections of wire mesh (4). The posts which are not anchored in the ground ensure that a vehicle hitting the barrier will not rebound onto the road, since they are free to move transversely of the barrier.
