Igniting charge for explosive shell - using two concentric ignition portions having different rates of ignition

A missile or shell has an explosive war head or cylindrical shape with an ignition charge through the centre made up of two portions (A, B), each portion consisting of two concentric blocks (1, 2) shaped by a pouring or moulding process, so that one block (1) is shaped as a double cone, or diabolo shape, with the other block (2) around it, and with a hollow channel down the middle in which are located corresponding detonators (4). One block is of an explosive which has a speed of detonation different from that of the other, e.g. the speeds may be greater than 4000 m.per. sec and the other is less than 8500 m.per sec. This gives a simultaneous and even detonation over the whole surface of the charge.
