A tilting window with a swinging arm attached at one end by a pivot pin on the fixed frame, and with a slider at the other end which also acts as a pivot and which travels in a track along the edge of the window frame, has a buffer block mounted on the same edge, in line with a peg on the end of the slider, so that if the window is suddenly swung open completely, the peg strikes the buffer. This buffer is a strip of resilient material consisting of a set of rings interconnected by narrow necked portions, and is housed inside a C section cover, this combination permitting an adequate compression to take place.
