Rigid panels are made by thermoplastic fabrication of shets have a low density core of organic foam generated between skins made of an elastic foam of partially open cell structure. The core foam material can key well into the pores of the skin, enhancing the surface density while retaining thermoformability. By varying the structure of the skin material, a wider variation of panel properties is readily obtained than for panels with simple paper or fabric covers. The skins are pref. prefabricated polyurethane or expanded polyethylene foam with densities of 20-200, pref. 30-100 kg/m3.
