1429907 Valves ELGE ESTABLISHMENT 18 June 1974 [18 June 1973] 27020/74 Heading F2V In an electromagnetically operated valve, a solenoid assembly 5 is attached to a valve body 4 by a locking ring 13 provided with radial projections 14 to form a bayonet coupling with recesses 16 in the body. The solenoid has a spring-loaded armature 31 with a cap 32 of elastomeric material controlling an aperture in a main valve 6 between the inlet 2 and outlet 3, the main valve being clamped between an element 9 and an insert 8 having apertures to connect the space beneath the diaphragm with the inlet. Resilient projections 12 on a tubular extension 11 of the element 9 engage an aperture in the bottom of the solenoid casing on assembly and projections 18 in the recesses 16 prevent the solenoid assembly from becoming detached. The assembly is coated with a plastics material 28 through which electrical connectors 27 from the coil 21 extend. Correct alignment of the assembly on the body is ensured by a projection 29 which engages one of the slots 16. In a second embodiment, the teeth 12 are omitted and the cover has radial teeth (35, Fig. 8) to, engage recesses (36, Fig. 9) in the valve body so that two separate bayonet movements are required during assembly. To secure the parts together a resilient V-shaped plastic element (38, Fig. 10) is secured between the cover and a recess 16 in the body.
