Envelope (1) consits of a blank (5) with folded-over sides (2, 3, 4). A tear strip (7) or wire of greater strength than that of the blank is incorporated in, or attached to, the material of the sheet. The tear strip or wire may extend along at least one side. It may extend over the full length of one side, and may have a thicker end portion (8). There may be a cut or perforation in the material of the envelope adjacent to the strip or wire. Instructions for opening may be printed on the envelope in pictorial or text form.
