A process for stabilizing conventional particulate thermoplastic organic polymers by admixing conventional stabilizers for the polymers is disclosed, wherein the resulting polymer-stabilizing mixture is homogeneous and exhibits good polymer stability. The stabilizer has a melting point at least 1 DEG C less than the temperature at which the polymer agglomerates and/or sinters and/or decomposes. The stabilizer is in the non-liquid state and preferably has a viscosity of at least 50 poise, measured under the conditions at which the stabilizer is added to the polymer. The polymer is heated to a temperature above the melting point of the stabilizer, and lower than the agglomeration and/or decomposition and/or sintering temperature of the polymer. The stabilizer is admixed with the polymer while the polymer is maintained at about the aforesaid temperature, and while the stabilizer is at a temperature at least about 1 DEG C lower than the stabilizer melting point temperature. The mixing is preferably at a shear rate no greater than 1000 sec-1.
