RF waveguide phase modulator - has two pin diodes between input centre conductor and broad faces of waveguide

The 0 deg. and 180 deg. RF waveguide phase modulator has an input coupler whose inner conductor (2a) protrudes into the waveguide cavity (1) through the latter's small face, and an outpout post coupler (10a) protruding into the cavity through the broad face, i.e. at right angles to the input coupler. The end of the input coupler's inner conductor is connected by two PIN diodes (7, 8) to opposite broad faces of the cavity. The diodes are biased separately and can be switched such that, with one or the other diode forward biased, H10 waves are generated with 180 deg. phase differences.
