The device comprises a chamber provided with a porous base which partitions the chamber from a pneumatic chamber and includes a foam removing trough in the upper part of the chamber. The base is rendered selectively less permeable to the air supplied from the chamber, such that zones of smaller air flow are provided adjacent the trough. Used for removing printing ink from waste paper. Pulp can be exposed to intensive turbulent effect and the foam removal does not require any auxiliary devices.
