The adjustable roof support is positioned over a face conveyor and has sledge members (1) with swinging arms (2) attached to the front and two telescopic cylinders (5) attached to the rear. It has also pivots each end, all supporting the roof support (4). The sledge members are positioned between horizontal side plates (7). These plates carry the pivots (6) for the bottom parts of the telescopic cylinders. The sledge members (1) have raised rear ends (1a) which slope so that they do not foul the cylinders when the whole device is folded flat. In this compact folded position, flanges (4a) hanging down each side, overlap the side plates so that their lower edges rest on the ground.
