A process for the preparation of a form body composed of silicon nitride and / or silicon oxynitride, with a proportion of silicon carbide

Mouldings of hot-pressed dense Si3N4 and/or Si oxynitride contain 0.5-40% SiC having grain-size 0.1-5 mu, evenly distributed in moulding and formed in situ. Used in machine pts. undergoing high stress, e.g. gas turbine rotors, stators and blades. Refractoriness and high temp. creep-stability are improved.
