Entry hoppers for hand-inserted registration carriers are movable sideways on guide rails over the width for which typing takes place after release of a locking device. Above the platen are two half-hoppers adjacent to each other, to guide the carriers, and there are two further ones below it. These accommodate the reading and registration mechanisms and the transporter devices. The upper halves can be coupled to the respective lower ones, the locking device being operated at the same time. The lower halves can slide in a common housing, which can likewise be slid. The locking device can comprise a sliding locking key with a coupling pin, mounted on the top hopper half and engaging in a coupling device in the lower one.
