Automatic bobbin changing apparatus has a pair of carriages movable along the machine on parallel, spaced rails, the 1st carriage being a servicing carriage and the 2nd carriage, which is located on the side of the 1st carriage remote from the machine is provided with spindle on which full and empty bobbin may be stored, whereby the capacity of the carriage is such that it corresponds to a group of machines. Servicing carriage is effective to remove a group of full bobbins from the machine and supply the spindles of the machine with empty bobbins during the course of a bobbin changing cycle. Used for ring spinning or twisting machines. Bobbin changing device is suitable for use with stretch twisting machines.
