A thermostatically controlled regulating valve for condensate relies on the relative expansion rates of a composite layered spring element. Condensate passes from an inlet (4) to an outlet (8) over an orifice formed by a hole (13) in a centrally mounted pin and a poppet mounted in a disc (1) on the free end of a 'U' shaped spring element (5). The temperature sensitive element is formed from two layers of different steels and clips into a recess (12) in the output the (11). The bottom edge of the element is formed at a right angle (17) to provide a limiting stop at a predetermined temperature.
