Vehicle tyre wear indicator - with coloured rubber inserts or continuous band in bottom of tread grooves

The tyre tread is fitted with coloured indicators (7) in the bottom of the tread grooves. As the tyre (1) wears and reaches the replacement stage the different colour appears warning the driver. The indicator can be retrofitted as a coloured band, covered with a black layer, and stretched around the tyre in the groove. As the outer covering of the band is worn away the colour appears. Another design can have coloured indicators embedded in the side walls of the tread pattern. Alternatively a differential colour of rubber can be moulded under the tread pattern, to appear when the tread is sufficiently worn.
