Pharmaceutical compsns. for treating disorders of Ca metabolism contain (a) a calcitonin and (b) cyclohexane-1,2,3,4,5,6-hexacarboxylic acid or a phosphonic acid of formula (I)-(VI) or their salts. (where R = H or 1-6C alkyl; m = 1-3; R1 = H or 1-4C alkyl n = 4-8; p=1 or 2; q = 3-6; R2,R3 and R4 are H or 1-3C alkyl; R5 is PO3H2, CR(PO3H2)(COOH) or CR(PO3H2)2; R6 is H, 1-3C alkyl, CH2CHRCOOH, CH2CHRCOOH, CH2CHR -PO3H2 or CH8COOH)CH2PO3H2). The compsns. can be used to treat osteitis deformans, hypercalcaemia and osteoporosis. Components (a) and; (b) have a synergistic effect, allowing each to be administered in reduced doses. This reduces undesirable side-effects, e.g. antibody formation, and permits longer-term treatment.
