The device for measurement of wheel or axle loadings on road vehicles consists of a measurement plate mounted on a frame and fitted with strain gauges. The unit is designed to guarantee satisfactory mounting of the plate so as to avoid inaccuracies due to road surface irregularities. The measurement plate (1) has projections (3) along both edges perpendicular to the direction of motion (F) with their outer edges supported in the frame (2). The strain gauges (13, 14) are mounted underneath the plate in the region of the projections along an imaginary transverse line (L). The projections are trapezoidal with the short edge of the trapezoid facing outwards into a slot in the frame.
