The element comprises: (a) A non-magnetic carrier of biaxially stretched (oriented) polyester, (b) an adhesive substrate of dry thickness 0.03-2.0 mum (pref. 0.2-1.5 mum) and (c) a magnetic layer contg. a ferromagnetic powder and binder, (b) is applied to (a) at =100 degrees C as a soln. dried and (c) is then applied. (b) is applied as a soln. of 0.8-5 wt.% solids consisting of an amorphous, linear, satd. polyester resin contg. an aromatic dicarboxylic acid component and 10-50 wt.% on polyester of a vinylidene chloride/addn-polymerised nitrile copolymer. The solvent consists predominantly of M.E.K. Used in prodn. of videotapes and tapes for sound recorders or electronic calculators, etc. Adhesion is improved partic. to polyethylene terephthalate carriers.
