The conveyer and cutter are both driven by a single motor 276 and, during operation, the arm 204 is moved from the broken-line position towards the centre of the table 190. In Fig 2 (not shown), a screw conveyer (264) replaces the endless conveyer and the table (190), which is formed from segments, may be dismantled. In a further construction, Fig 3, a spring-loaded wall-like member 227b guides the material on to the conveying run of an endless conveyer 274. A roller 229, which may be driven and have prongs also guides the material. The conveyer has upper and lower endless members and is inclined toward its free end, Fig. 4 (not shown). The arm 204 is pivoted by power means the relative speeds of the arm and of the table 190 being arranged to provide a constant amount of material at the discharge end 239 of the conveyer. The table may be at ground level and be suitable to support vehicles. In Fig. 7, the material is compressed, as it is fed on to a main endless conveyer member 362, by an endless chain 362a having prongs, support means for the chain being raisable by pressure of additional material. The body 380 of the main conveyer has supports 400 of which rollers 351 engage a transverse support 353. Fig. 8 (not shown) illustrates a variable speed mechanism for adjusting the relative speeds of pivoting of the main conveyer and of the rotary table. The free end of this conveyer is moved toward the centre of the table by a driven lead screw (354) engaged by a nut (355) connected to the supports (400), Figs. 9, 10 (not shown). A blower unit (412) delivers the material from the main conveyer.
