Ball bearing race for axial thrust - has split intermediate cage with annular slip rings in end face (SW 14.3.77)

The ball bearing race is built to withstand axial thrust components of centrifugal foces, for instance in adjustable fan blades, mounted on the shaft inside the casing next to the bearing. The bearing race has two rolling tracks (7, 8), separated by an intermediate split cage (10), radially enclosing balls in the tracks. The split cage (10) has annular grooves for slip rings (11, 12) pressed against one (7) of the thrust rings. The slip rings are made of low friction graphite or plastics, providing automatic lubricatin. The contact surfaces of the thrust rings (7, 8) are also phosphated to reduce frictional wear.
