Extra long high speed rail points - have U-section cradle with base groove accommodating junction point with feet at base supporting check rail soes

The extra-long rail points are for rail tracks used by high trains. They comprise a steel cradle (1) of closed U-section and with a flat horizontal base (5). The latter has a central lengthwise groove (6) with flat lateral edges (7) in which a junction point is rigidly fixed. Two check rails guided on the flat edges by the edges (4) of the cradle are secured in position by struts fixed to bars passing through the junction point and the cradle edges, and connected to the points operating linkage. There can be feet at the base of the junction point and extending outwards on which the check rail shoes rest.
