Anchorage of steel reactor shield to foundation slab - has low points of undulating shield edge fixed to compound plate feet and cast into slab

Composite steel plate and reinforced concrete anchorage may be used in nuclear pressure vessel construction to anchor a steel plate reactor shield to a reinforced concrete foundation slab. The bottom edge of the cylindrical shield undulates and the low points are welded to a vertical radial head-slotted plate. The plate is fixed to a further steel plate member and the assembly inc. the shield lip is buried in the slab. The system gives uniform stress distribution while permitting radial deformations. The embedded anchorage pref. lies on a vertical downward extension of a shield generatrix and is built into layers of horizontal slab reinforcement.
