1463351 Structural joints PONT-A-MOUSSON SA 8 March 1974 [16 March 1973] 10632/74 Heading F2M [Also in Division E1] A raised way in a tunnel is assembled from flanged deck plates 12, 13; 12a, 13a supported by outer beams 6; 6a mounted on brackets 7; 7a and by central beams 8 mounted on posts 10, the plates having flanges 14; 14a for hooking engagement with the beams. Each deck plate has a lipped flange 17 extending along one half of the length of the plate at one side and a plain flange 20 extending along the other half of the length of the plate at that side, the plain flange of each plate being received in a channel 19 behind the lip 18 of the flange 17 of the adjoining plate, bolts 22 being fitted through aligned notches 23. Each central beam 8 is of nominally inverted-channel section and is assembled (Fig. 5) from two halves 26, 27, the latter half having a flange 33 received in a channel 36 of a flange 32 of the half 26, these flanges being connected by bolts 32. Each half 27 of a beam 8 has a tongue 41 adapted for reception in a recess 38 in the half 26 of an adjacent beam, the tongue having an aperture 42 for receiving a projection 39 in the recess 38. The beams 8 define channels 9, 9a, for receiving the flanges 14, 14a of plates 13, 13a and have flanges 43 which sit on the posts 10, and they have annular projections 40 received in the posts 10. The tunnel lining C may be that disclosed in Specification 1,462,711.
