MOLDING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION OF A CONTINUOUS MOLDED PLASTIC STRIP HAVING THEREON UPSTANDING HOOK-LIKE MEMBERS

We claim:- 1. An apparatus for producing a continuous molded plastic product comprising a plurality of groups of mold plates, means for positioning said groups of plates allowing alternating mold plates of each group to be shifted with respect to the remaining mold plates of such group, the alternate mold plates constituting flat spacer plates for separating the remaining mold plates of each group, and, when in their outward positions, having their edges even with the outer edges of the remaining mold plates so that said groups form a continuous surface, in each of said groups said remaining mold plates having mold cavities intersecting their outer edges and one of their faces, the flat faces of said alternate mold plates, which constitute the flat spacer plates, forming one wall of each of the mold cavities, means for delivering moldable plastic material under pressure to said mold cavities to form upstanding members and also to said continuous surface to form thereon a plastic base member strip to which the upstanding members formed in the mold cavities are integrally attached, and means for shifting said alternate mold plates after the plastic material has set to release the sides of the upstanding members and allow them to be freed from mold cavities.
