The staircase to be made, built in and completed can be straight or curved. It has prefabricated, self-supporting tread slabs of reinforced concrete, installed with adjustably screwed connecting bolts for height setting. The slabs (30) are produced in smooth-surfaced forms, then installed in position. On completion, they are improved and finished at damaged points (38) with a filler mass or trowelling, and finally given a coat of paint or plastic coating, and a covering (40) which is pref. only in the centre part. They may be removed from the forms with compressed air or under water pressure, applied to the area later covered.
