The winding, consisting of double pancake coils, has its impedance altered by varying the number of cross-overs in the leads connecting parallel pancake coils. With all the interconnecting wires parallel and no cross-overs, the impedance of the winding, is at its highest due to the phasing of the currents in parallel wires, whilst with all interconnecting wires crossed the impedance is at its lowest. Intermediate numbers of cross-overs give intermediate impedances. Crossing or uncrossing wires thus allows the winding properties to be simply altered manufacture.
