Repairing enamelled appliances, esp. ovens - coated with self cleaning enamel, using aluminium repair enamel baked by using the oven

Process for the repair of electrically heated, enamelled metal appliance parts with damaged zones in the layer of enamel, esp. for pyrolytically self-cleaning baking and roasting ovens made of enamelled steel sheet. The novelty is that the damaged zones are coated with a layer of aluminium enamel possessing a m.pt. near the operating temp. of the appliance, so that the Al-enamel is baked in during operation of the appliance. The Al-enamel pref. has a m.pt. just below the max. operating temp. of the appliance, esp. a m.pt. of 424 degrees C, and is baked in while the baking or roasting oven is held at the self-cleaning temp. of 500 degrees C for 90 minutes. Damaged parts of the enamel layer inside an oven can be repaired in situ, without dismantling the oven so that only low repair costs are involved. The process can also be used for other parts such as baking trays or cooking utensils.
