Quick release vehicle wheel clamp for balancing machines - has bolts which are adjustable for different wheels and has bayonet lock

The quick-release clamping arrangement for attaching vehicle wheels to balancing machines, accommodates different types of wheel with or without centre hole. A star-shaped plate (3) fixed to the drive shaft (2) has radial slots (4) in each web in which slide adjustable sleeves (6). Each sleeve has a wheel-fixing bolt (7) which passes through a spring-loaded cone (8). This assembly is adjusted to suit the various pitch-circle-diameters of the fixing holes in different wheels. The bolt passes through the wheel dish and the cone centres it correctly. The outer tip of the bolt has a groove (12) which is engaged by the edges of a tapered slot in a clamping plate placed on the outside of the wheel. The plate (17) is tightened against the wheel by means of a screw adjuster (18).
