The bearing journal for an open-end spinning turbine has a dia. 4 mm, pref. between 2-3 mm, with a similar dia. for the aperture for the bearing bush. The rotor is sufficiently compactly constructed that the moment of inertia on its rotary axis is at maximum. The journal and the pot-shaped section of the rotor are so dimensioned that the journal does not range over the end of the pot. The design gives quiet running for turbine rotor speeds up to 100,000 rpm.
