Combine harvester separating screens - with operated flaps opening when machine slopes to pass grain to lower screen

Separating screens in combine harvesters comprise oscillating upper and lower screens supplied with air from a fan. The upper screen (7) has in its rear region on both sides apertures (8, 9) which are partly or completely closed by flaps (10, 11) depending on the degree to which the harvester slopes. The flaps are pivoted by means of weighted levers (12, 13) about an axis (17) extending in the lengthwise direction of the harvester. Opening of the flaps while the harvester slopes allows grain to pass to the lower screen so that loss of grain over the side is prevented.
