Ball release device in slot machines for football and hockey games has swivel flap between locking and release positions. The flap is swivelled through a shaft operated by the release bar of the coin mechanism. In the locking position the flap holds the balls which are lying against it on a sloping plane. A ball channel (19) is arranged along the sloping plane (12). It accepts only a predetermined number of balls. In the release position the swivel flap (17) locks the ball inlet (6) for the ball channel (19) which is fixed to the sloping plane (12). ITs cross-section is U-shaped.
