Decorative plastics article manufacture - by applying patterns of resin powder to a resin base layer

A decorative flat plastics article is made by heat gelling a layer of thermoplastic powder on a first mould, depositing thermoplastic particles of different colours in pockets defined in a second mould having the same outline as the first, applying the first mould gelled layer down over the second mould, inverting the assembly thus formed to cause powder in the pockets to contact and stick to the gelled layer, reinverting the assembly, removing the first mould, applying heat to it to bond the particles together and to the gelled layer, and cooling the decorative article thus formed and removing it from the first mould. The same pattern can be reproduced time and time again using the same second mould.
