The solar cell consists of a sandwich structure of two different polycrystalline semiconductor layers in an intimate mutual contact, produced on a metal or metal coated substrate and provided on the other, exposed to light side with grid-like electrode. One semi-conductor layer (1) consists of cadmium selenice (CaSe) and the other (2) of tin selenide (SnSe). The first layer is deposited on a metallic backing plate (3). The second layer is fitted into a grid electrode (5) of gold or indium. Two electrode connections are made, one with the backing plate and one with the grid, each electrode is fixed to a connector wire (16).
