The support cutting levers esp. for shears for cutting bar stock is designed to eliminate damage to the support caused by the impact loading. The cutting lever (3) is mounted with double-sided play on a shaft and has a frame plate (1, 2) positioned either side of it. The shaft is secured against axial displacement by cover plates (11, 15) of which one (11) is coupled without play on one side and the other (15) is connected to the opposite side but at a short distance from it. This distance is regulated by an adjusting screw (18) passing through the plate. The outer edge of this plate (15) face rests against the face (16) of a bearing liner (14).
